MPP's 30 Day High-Heel Challenge

Yesterday, MPP and I were watching MTV's MADE and this girl was trying to dress more like a lady and become a ballroom dancer yet she was a soccer star who wore sweatpants and sweatshirts everyday. So her coach challenged her to wear high heels everyday to school to start. Once I heard this, a light bulb went off in my head and I got the idea to ask MPP do the same thing since she has over 10 pairs of high heels that never ever wears to work. This challenge only includes during the work week and not on weekends. Rightfully she accepted and earlier today she fully committed to the challenge by outing herself to the twitter community so if she fails she's not only letting me down but she'd be letting down her FOLLOWERS as well!!! I also got ppl at her work checking up on her so I'll know if she's cheating haha! Tweet me @SchaichPetey if you see her without her heels on during the day. Today was Day 1 so I thought I would share a quick pic of her. Check back daily as I will snap a pic of her accentuating her HIGH HEELS.

Network+ Certified

Saturday was one small step for man and one GIANT leap for Schaich Petey. In my quest to pass a IT certification every month for the next 12 months and ultimately reach my goal of moving from Recruiting Manager to Network Engineer, I scheduled my second IT certification on Saturday morning at 11 am. I had been studying on and off since passing my Security+ but MPP told me to hunker down and go take the test before the month ran out and I didn't meet my goal. I bought my voucher and studied for 6 hours Thursday night, scheduled my test on Friday and studied for 6 hours again and then it was time for me to see how much I knew. So I woke up early that morning to get a nice bowl of cereal and get some last minute studying done and then it was off to the testing center. As I sat down and wrote down all the information that I was having trouble remembering on the blank piece of paper I was given when the time ran out to read the instructions and then I was off to the races. The first 10 questions went by like that so I knew it was on like Donkey Kong. By 12:15 I was clicking the finish button and I waited in anticipation to see the results, when all of sudden I see CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE PASSED THE NETWORK+ EXAM!!!! I was so excited. My goal for every certification is to get a score 850 out of 900 but I ended up with a score of 829, which wasn't bad at all. So that's two down now. Next up is the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) which is broken down into 2 tests; so next up is the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT). Wish me luck!

JMU Softball Tournament: The Results

RD 3: JMU VS RUTGERS (8/15/2010)

As we began Rd. 3 of the CAN tournament on Sunday so came the rain. We woke up early that day and made it up to Goddard to see that the first games were already in a rain delay. As we started our game vs. Rutgers so came the rain again. We ended up making it through 3 innings before it was called off b/c of a torrential downpour. At that time we were winning 5-2 but after the game was called the coach for Rutgers came over and said that they would have to forfeit next week b/c first of all they didn't think that they would make it that far and secondly they didn't have enough players so we moved onto Rd. 4.

Check out Week 1's Pictures of the CAN Softball Tournament. Photographed by KV.

RD 4: JMU VS VILLANOVA (8/21/2010)
This was our toughest opponent yet. Villanova was leading by 2 runs going into the 7th/last inning and with two outs left, and I was up to bat. As I stepped up to the plate, the pitcher served me up a nice meat pitch and I lined it into centerfield for a base hit. With two people on base, our clean up hitter came up to the plate and he launched a walk-off homerun into the woods over both fences and we celebrated like we had just won the championship. So it was onto the next round.

RD 5: JMU VS TEXAS A&M (8/22/2010)
Coming off our high from the day before, our next game was vs. Texas A&M. A&M had a great pitcher who started off with almost once knee on the ground and then rose up and the pitch came in very deep. This game was a battle the entire time, but in the end A&M pulled out the VICTORY thanks to our only 4 hits and 2 runs overall. So it was onto the loser's bracket, which no team has EVER come from the loser's bracket and won, so needless to say our work was cut out for us. This began at 10:30 in the morning.

LOSER'S BRACKET: JMU VS UVA (8/22/2010)
Right after our loss to A&M we jumped over a field and it was time to start grinding. This game was very similar to our game vs. Villanova. We were both pretty evenly matched teams but again it came down to the 7th inning. Down by 1 going into the last inning, our other power hitter (Hollywood Mike) came to the plate and hit a walk-off 2 run bomb as we won by 1 run again. This was our second walk-off win of the tournament.

LOSER'S BRACKET: JMU VS VIRGINIA TECH (8/22/2010)
We celebrated our win by jumping up and down with excitement and soaking in the joy of our second walk-off homerun/win of the tournament, but the truth was we still had a lot of work to do. Next, we moved fields again and we were back to the field that we lost on earlier in the day. VA Tech was good but they were no match for us as our bats came alive and we WON!!!

LOSER'S BRACKET: JMU VS MARYLAND (8/22/2010)
Two games in the loser's bracket were in the books and we were battling back when Maryland lost to Texas A&M in the final game but since this was a double elimination tournament, which meant A&M had a chance to rest while we played our 4th straight game in a row. By now our feet were starting to hurt and we had drunken about 10-15 beers and 50 bottles of water by now. Maryland was no match for us as we were on a mission to get another chance at Texas A&M. There was a little scuffle during this game when one of Maryland's player's took out our second basemen (girl) to break up a double play and then didn't say he was sorry. So this took about 5 minutes to settle after many back and forth taunts and words were spoken we were back to playing ball. But in the we/JMU were VICTORIOUS!!!

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: JMU (SEED 3) VS TEXAS A&M (SEED 32) (8/22/2010) Game 1
As we drew on our quest to be the first team EVER to win from the loser's bracket, we got ready to play our 5th straight game of the day and we weren't any fresher than we were the game before. We had the eye of the tiger this game as we stared right into the eyes of defeat and defeated Texas A&M. It looks like we got our chance after all. We got the chance to play more softball and also be the first team ever to win the championship from the loser's bracket. JMU had won the tournament 2 years in a row now so we were going for #3, but this was my first year playing with the team, so I was a ROOK (rookie).

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: JMU (SEED 3) VS TEXAS A&M (SEED 32) (8/22/2010) Game 2
This game was the end all be all. This was it. The game was nail biting the whole way. We would take the lead and then A&M would take the lead. We were down by 1 run going into the bottom of the 7th and we ended up putting up one run to go in to EXTRAs. In the top of the 8th, we went to one pitch softball and A&M  scored one run to go up 7-6. Now came our chance at bat could this be our 3rd walk-off game of the tournament or would the run at our 3rd straight championship finally come to an end in our 6th straight game of the day. In the bottom of the 8th, the first batter came up and went down, the second batter singled so the tying run was on first, then third batter came up and went down. With 2 outs and the tying runner on first and me (the third batter in the lineup) on deck, our #2 hitter flied out to right center and our day/our championship run was OVER!!! After 8 hours of straight softball, Texas A&M won the tournament 7-6 in 8 innings.

Even though we didn't end up winning the tournament. I enjoyed every minute of the whole season and the tournament. I'm so glad I came out for softball this year and that I was able to get a lot of playing time. Out of 68 teams we ended up coming in 2nd which wasn't bad at all. I had such a great time both weekends but I believe weekend 2 was better since my parents and my gf (MPP) were there to cheer me on. I would like to think MPP for coming out both weekends to cheer me on even when it was pouring down raining outside she stuck it out like a champ with no complaints at all. MPP remember who your favorite player is haha (#36)!!!!

Next up is CAN Flag Football where we lost to Purdue last year, but at least they went onto to win the championship, so it just goes to show that we are right there. Then it's basketball, where we came in 3rd last year behind UVA & Penn State. I feel like this year starting with football could be a triple peat for the JMU DUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

Since there were so many pictures taken I just choose a couple of pictures to display from the Tournament, check out the pictures below:

JMU Softball Tournament Rd.1&2-The Results

Today, began the CAN Softball Tournament weekend at Goddard Fields in Greenbelt, Maryland. This is my first year playing softball with JMU so this is also my first tournament as well. The whole set-up is awesome. Every team showed up representing their school to the fullest by wearing their school colors, putting up team tents, rocking ridiculous party-city costumes and there was also slip-n-slides and plenty of your favorite drinking games (corn hole, etc.). Also did I mention their is a Bud Light beer truck. Our first game was at 11:40 and if we won we had a game right after at 12:50. Each game is on a time limit of 50 minutes.

Game 1:
Results: JMU WINS!!!

After game 1 was in the books we had a little time to rest between our second game. Once we saw that Wake Forest had beaten George Mason we were super excited. We had lost to Wake earlier in the year by the score of 2-1 so we were definitely looking forward to taking them down in the tourney. Game 2 began at 12:50.

Game 2
Results: JMU WINS!!!

Tomorrow is Day 2 of the tourney and we kick the day off with our first game at 10:30 am. Check back tomorrow for Day 2's results.

Cincinnati Welcomes The Capped Crusaders

On Tuesday, the Cincinnati Bengals after much pleading and tweeting by Ochocinco decided to sign Mr. Terrel Owens to a 1-year deal with $2 million and an extra $2 million in incentives. I remember when Chad was on ESPN about 2 years ago when he was holding out for more money and they asked him what did he learn from that experience and he said he learned that unless your a QB you can't dictate or get away with S**T. It just proved his point even further when all it took for TO to come to Cincinnati was a little workout with Carson Palmer after a Matt Leinart bowling event in Arizona. Once Carson saw TO still had the ability to be a elite WR in the NFL, he called up Marvin and upper management and told them that they had to bring TO on board. Next thing you know TO is signing with the Bengals and Ochocinco is celebrating like it's his birthday and tweeting up a storm. Here are some of his Tweets:

@terrellowens man it dont take that damn long to sign on the dotted line, lets go damit!!! You can be Batman i will be Robin, lets go!!
@terrellowens Oh and Carson is gonna be ALFRED
@terrellowens Cedric Benson is the riddler and bobbie williams is the penguin and tank johnson is mr. freeze
@terrellowens we cant forget coach Lewis he is gonna be detective BULLOCK
@terrellowens holy batman where are you, Pow, Crunch, Boom

The newspaper in Cincinnati should read: CINCINNATI WELCOMES THE CIRCUS!!! I can't wait to see what happens this year with the Dynamic Duo, especially their end zone dances. Even if they don't win a single game this year at least they will make it interesting week in and week out that's for sure; exactly like they do on VH1.
The TO signing again goes to show how the Cincinnati Bengals are turning into the Dallas Cowboys of the AFC. They now have 5 ex-Cowboys which includes Pacman Jones, Tank Johnson, Antonio Bryant, Roy Williams, and TO. Hopefully the FAB 5 work out better for the Bengals than they did for the Boys.
